To coincide with the launch of London Fashion Week last Friday, the ‘Best Of British’ issue of O: by Tank (in Sunday’s Observer) celebrates the rise and rise of London’s fashion scene over the past 50 years, in a series of photographs.
From Mary Quant’s first store bazaar to Ozzie Clark’s Chelsea Town Hall Show and Dame Viv’s SEX with its anti-establishment punk tees, right through to the iconic meeting of the Iron Lady and Katharine Hamnett, Stella McCartney’s first show and the late Lee McQueen’s CBE – the magazine celebrates pivotal moments in Brit style and culture.
If you missed the magazine, then head to the Shop at Bluebird on London’s King’s Road, who are hosting an exhibition featuring images from the issue in their fantastic pop-up space. The display will run until March 12th, so make sure you check it out to see shots like these…
